RMAE | Springboard After School Care
TO ALL PARENTSAs most parents know, here and throughout the country many of our children are under performing academically when compared to most other industrialized nations. Rocky Mountain Academy of Evergreen has identified a partner organization, Springboard After School (Springboard). Springboard is a Core Knowledge after school program that provides students with professional academic, physical, and creative challenges after school. In partner schools to date, Springboard has successfully improved academic performance among its students and has provided a safe environment for kid-friendly creative, physical, academic and recreational opportunities that enable students to reach their fullest potential. SPRINGBOARD - WHAT WE HAVE LEARNED ABOUT AFTER SCHOOL TIMEYour children leave school charged with a significant academic workload and high expectations for using their time productively. Learning does not stop when the school day ends. This time represents an opportunity and a risk for students who seek further challenge and for those who need extra help. It is during this time that kids are expected to complete homework, prepare for exams, and develop good study habits. Too often, however, this time is not used efficiently or is lost altogether Ineffective homework time and disconnected tutoring are no match for the busy working schedules of parents and distractions such as TV, the Internet, cell phones, and video games. Often students simply do not get enough done after school, or they have questions about the work they've been assigned. Many kids are frustrated and parents are often stressed as they struggle to figure out the best way to help. HOW SPRINGBOARD WORKSEach day after school from 2:55 – 6:30 Monday through Friday, your child may participate in a structured academic experience. Springboard’s professional teachers work directly with your child's teacher to insure your child's academic success. Our teachers assess how well prepared your child is to do homework, check homework for accuracy, and work with your child to ensure homework is understood and completed on time. Parents receive frequent reports on academic progress and teachers follow-up with students who need reminders and direction. Students rotate through blocks for social/emotional development, academics, and recreational electives. They can attend anywhere from one day a week up to and including five days a week depending upon your schedule. Why
do kids want to attend? Because we provide families with what they
need and kids with what they want. The program includes a place for kids to have fun and additional instruction in creative and physical
challenges such as karate, dance, music, and robotics. SPRINGBOARDSCHOOL.COM Updated January 18, 2008 |
