RMAE | Our History

2001
RMAE opened its doors September 6, 2001, following three years of intensive
effort by parents and members of the Evergreen community to find a site
and start up. The first year introduced 168 students in grades Kindergarten
through seventh grade. RMAE is recognized by the Core
Knowledge Foundation as a Friend of Core Knowledge.
2002
Eighth grade is added to the middle school. RMAE is a K-8 Core Knowledge
School.
For the 2002-2003 school year, our elementary school receives an Excellent
rating on the State Accountability Report, and our middle school is
rated High.
2003
In September, 2003, RMAE opens its preschool at a separate campus in
Evergreen, which adds more than 40 students to the RMAE family. RMAE
believes that early childhood education can provide a solid, coherent
foundation for later learning in kindergarten and beyond. The RMAE preschool
utilizes the Core Knowledge Sequence as its basis for academics. The
skills and knowledge in the preschool sequence are designed to correlate
with the existing Core Knowledge Sequence for grades K-8.
For the 2003-2004 school year, our elementary school is rated High
on the State Accountability Report, and our middle school is rated Excellent.
2004
For the 2004-2005 school year, both our elementary school and our middle
school are rated Excellent on the State Accountability Report. Our middle
school was recognized as a John Irwin School of excellence (top 8 percent
of middle schools in Colorado).

Core Knowledge Visitation School, one of only seven schools in Colorado
(one of only 46 in the nation) as of the 2007-2008 school year.
For the 2005-2006 school year, both our elementary school and our middle
school are rated High on the State Accountability Report.

building that includes a high-school sized gymnasium, a stage, and a
music classroom.
