About Me: I grew up on a cattle ranch in Montana. I started studying Spanish at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, CA. I studied for two years and then spent a semester abroad in Costa Rica to finish my minor in Spanish. Right after college, I worked at a Spanish language radio station. In 2006, I taught English for 6 months in Punta Arenas, Chile. In 2007, I moved to Denver and fell in love with Colorado. I tried out a career in financial services, but I realized that it wasn’t for me. In 2009, I decided to become a teacher and moved to Taiwan to teach English for 15 months. I also started taking online classes toward a Masters in Bilingual Education through Jones International University.
In 2010, I returned to Denver and worked with Spanish-speaking students at Bruce Randolph School near Commerce City. In 2012, I completed my student teaching at Denver Language School. I taught 3rd grade in a Spanish immersion program. I finished my last Masters class in April of 2012 after almost 3 years.
I currently live in Denver with my dog Gravy and I’m excited for my position as a Spanish teacher at RMAE!
Favorite Quote: Al que madruga, Dios le ayuda.
Interesting fact: When I was in 8th grade, my class had 10 students, including me. We were the only school in the county.
